Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon (born March 22, 1976) is an American actress perhaps most familiar as Elle Woods in the film Legally Blonde (2001) and its sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde (2003).




Biography



Witherspoon was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to John Witherspoon (a surgeon) and Betty Reese (a nurse and college professor); Reese is a direct descendant of Scottish-born John Witherspoon, a signer of the United States Declaration of Independence and founder of Princeton University, who was also a Presbyterian minister. Reese spent much of her childhood and adolescence in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville. She has a older brother named John, who works as a real estate broker. After graduating high school from Nashville's prestigious Harpeth Hall School, she attended Stanford University as a literature major. After completing a year of her studies, Reese left Stanford to pursue her acting career.



 





Personal life



Witherspoon married actor Ryan Phillippe on June 5, 1999. They starred in a movie together, Cruel Intentions, before they were engaged. They have two children together: Ava Elizabeth Phillippe, born September 9, 1999, and Deacon Phillippe, born October 23, 2003.



 



Career



Reese Witherspoon is known for her versatility as an actress, playing both comedic and dramatic roles. She has won Best Actress awards from the National Society of Film Critics and the Online Film Critics Society. Among her critically-acclaimed performances are Vanessa in Freeway and Tracy Flick in Election. Witherspoon was the voice of the animated character Greta Wolfecastle in an episode of The Simpsons. She became best known for her role in 2001's Legally Blonde, but is currently being critically praised for her turn as June Carter in Walk the Line, and is rumoured to be a potential Best Actress nominee for the 2005 Oscars.

Roselyn Sanchez (born April 2nd, 1973 in Santurce, Puerto Rico) is the first person to play a hispanic character in one of the most popular soap operas in the U.S..






Roselyn SanchezRoselyn is the youngest of four siblings - having three older brothers. She received her primary education in San Juan. At a young age she showed an interest in both dancing and acting and would put on shows for her family. Roselyn enrolled in the University of Puerto Rico, where like her father and brothers she was to study marketing. However, this was not her calling and after three years she left the course.



In 1991, at the age of 21, Roselyn moved to New York City, where she took classes in dancing, acting and singing. She returned to Puerto Rico and in 1992, she made her movie debut, having landed a small part as an island girl in the movie Captain Ron, which was partly filmed on the island, starring Martin Short and Kurt Russell.



In 1993, Roselyn won the Miss Puerto Rico Petite contest and in 1994 she won the international title of Miss America Petite. In Puerto Rico, she gained public attention as a dancer and co-host of the island's #1 variety show, at that time, "Que Vacilon".





Roselyn returned to New York and landed her first English speaking role in the CBS soap opera, "As The World Turns". She became the first hispanic to play a Latina character, when she played the role of "Pilar Domingo" from 1996 until 1997.



In 2001, Roselyn was cast as "Isabella Molina", a secret customs agent who was Jackie Chan's love interest in the movie Rush Hour 2. In 2003, she played the role of "Lorena" in the movie Chasing Papi starring alongside Jaci Velasquez and Sofia Vergara.



Roselyn Sanchez has already acted in 20 movies and has been cast in the role of Maria in the Hollywood production Edison and in the role of "Karen Lopez" in the production of "Underclassman", both due out in 2005. She is also cast in the movies Venus & Vegas and Cayo which are in the post-prodution stages. She is in the process of composing a musical about a singer/dancer/actress who leaves Puerto Rico to hit the big time in New York, in this she is going to play the principal part. In 2005, her first musical recording "Borinqueña" will be out in the market. She is preparing for her role in The Perfect Sleep, a neo-noir drama, where she is co-staring with Patrick Bauchau, Tony Amendola, Isaac Singleton and Peter Lucas. She has also joined the cast of Without a Trace.

Rebecca A Romijn (born November 6, 1972) is an actress and former supermodel. She was born in Berkeley, California to Jaap Romijn and Elizabeth Kuizenga, both of whom are of Dutch ancestry.



While studying music at the University of California, Santa Cruz, she became involved with modeling and eventually moved to Paris, France for more than two years. Among other jobs, she modeled for the swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated and for Victoria's Secret. She also was the host of MTV's House of Style from 1998 to 2000.



In 2000's X-Men, she had her first major movie role as "Mystique"; she returned to the role in 2003's sequel X2: X-Men United, and is currently being trained by Jerry O'Connell for her role in X-Men 3, expected for release in 2006. In these movies her costume consisted of blue makeup and some strategically placed prosthetics on her otherwise nude body. She had her first leading role in Brian De Palma's Femme Fatale (2002). She also has starred in movies such as Rollerball and Godsend.



It was announced she will play the leading role in Pepper Dennis, a TV series set for 2006.



She married actor John Stamos on September 19, 1998. During her marriage, she used the name Rebecca Romijn-Stamos in both her personal and professional life. The couple announced their separation on April 12, 2004 and divorced on March 1, 2005. She has returned to using her birth name. On September 20, 2005, Romijn's publicist confirmed her engagement to Jerry O'Connell .
